- If you don´t run your own servers, consider yourself lucky. This Code Red virus is really a nightmare. Our online store is nearly down. The virus keeps clogging target servers with incomprehensible URLs, aimed at exploiting a weekness in Microsofts IIS. I think, this weakness is there on purpose and has been leaked on purpose. The URL is so strange that the chances to discover it by chance are pretty damn close to nil.
- I talked to my ISP about what to do. Since the requests come in a unique, recognisable form, they should be filtered out at the Network hubs. This does not seem to be that easy. I think it is at least as easy as snooping credit card numbers... Anyways, the ISP said they are in big trouble because a lot of the machines they house for their customers are infected and they are hard at work to track those down.
