The debit coin economy

The debit coin economy

  • Last night, I had a strange dream about a society where you do not work to gain credit in form of money but to reduce dept in form of anti-money. Instead of paying taxes, you are alloted a certain amount of dept each month that you have to work off. Every customer who buys goods or services from you has to pay the price by taking debit coins with the service which increases his dept. In order to "finance" large sales, you in turn would have to consume more so that you can load off the debit coins you gain. This is an interesting mind game. I think about writing a simulation program to see how that works.

  • I read Dave Barry´s "Big Trouble". Some of it is a satire about the security at US airports. It was funny until Sept. 11th. Now it sounds cynical. Not Dave´s fault, though.

  • I went to Amsterdam yesterday and had to experience the "increased" security measures around air travel. I don´t think they accomplish anything besides totally annoying the travelers. The people involved really try hard, but in order to hijack an airplane, you really do not need to take any weapons on...
