More Mac OS X 10.1
9/29/01; 3:18:50 PM
This server is now running Mac OS X 10.1. The upgrade went smoother than I expected. Frontier 7 seems a little bit more responsive, but that could well be because it cleaned out some garbage at the reboot. Mac OS X 10.1 has some strange glitches, though: The "Connect To" dialog, for example, lacks a user interface. You have to type in URLs with syntaxes nobody can remember or even spell correctly. Ugh! And why the hell did WebObjects 5 break? Is that not considered an important part of the puzzle any more? - Discuss
Quiet before the storm

I don´t know if that expression exists in English or what the equivalent would be, but it certainly feels strange. The storm of rage coming from the US has died down. News are almost back to before. We have not heard of any drastic action so far, which does, of course, not mean that it did not happen. Will Holywood make the attacks into a movie? Undoubtedly. Curious who will play the role of Osama Bin Laden... - Discuss (1 response)
Even the ancient greeks...

How do you know what is true in the News? Even the ancient greeks knew that there is a problem with this, and even created a goddess for this.
Fama
Goddess of fame or rumor. She is said to have many eyes and mouths. She travels about the world, first whispering her rumors to only a few, then becoming louder and louder till the whole world knows the news. She lived in a palace with a thousand windows, all of which were always kept open so she could hear everything that was said by anyone on earth. Her friends were
Credulitas (error), Laetitia (joy), Timores (terror), and Susuri (rumor).
The quote is taken from a posting by Leda Beck to the Rules of Revolutionaries list.
By the way, I added a deliberate mistake to this news item. See if you can figure it out. - Discuss
