How to deal with it

Even professional journalists can no longer say what is true and what isn´t. Is Bin Laden already dead? Does the CIA cover it up preventing a conclusion to the war? Has the Taliban faked the death trying to get the US to stop the war? Is it all a rumor spread by the Chinese? Why would they do that?
I think this is getting out of hand. How to deal with it? The media should simply stop to report on the war and the circus surrounding it. Both the terrorism and the war against it only exist for the benefit of the media anyways. Bin Laden wouldn´t stage terrorist attacks if they wouldn´t be reported on TV and the US government wouldn´t have to retaliate if the media wouldn´t ask them to on behalf of their audiences. - Discuss (1 response)
An amazing form of propaganda

Take a catchy tune and turn it into a propaganda song: Hey, Mr. Taliban, hand over Bin Laden... This song does not get out of my mind ever since I saw the web page over on Spiegel Online. The LEO dictionary calls these songs "mindworms", "Ohrwurm" in German. A strange feature of the human mind. And a propaganda tool we are exposed to daily without being aware of it. - Discuss
Class Action Lawsuits

Imagine the gamblers sue the card maker because they made the stack of cards look so promising that they went to the poker game and lost their shirts. This is what happens to publicly traded companies all the time. Wallstreet´s junkies bet on thin air, loose and try to take it out on the company. I could understand it if Apple would deliberately loose money so that stock holders do not get their dividends, but sueing a company because they were optimistic is definitively off. But decency ends where lawyers come into play. - Discuss
Terry Pratchett

I am reading "The Science of Discworld" by Terry Pratchett. Amazingly, Amazon lists it as out of print. Great read. Expecially for teachers or soon-to-be teachers. The idea is to look at science through the eyes of the Discworld´s wizards. Explains why HEX runs on Ants and why small things stick to big round things. - Discuss
Great Feature

The news items feature is great. I can write down thoughts without having to post them immediately. Sometimes it is better to think about it one more time. The quality of the postings increases. On the other hand, you don´t get to read my impulsive ideas. (Why is there always an "other hand"?) - Discuss
